Lately, I can not get enough of this meal. The fruit changes often but it's so yummy!! and good for the baby.....

On another note...

Recently, someone told me they couldn't invest (right now) in our friendship because they are going to be busy setting up their life logistically and working to make more money and all of this needed to happen in just 6 months. hm....It seriously confused me. Not because I am so selfish as to wonder how can they not to be MY friend but because my main goal in life is to be balanced and I would never forget or not genuinely care about someone I have been friends with for so long. I can't even fathom it. I have learned so much in how to be truly happy (I try!) and be genuine with the people in my life. Just seems that if you put all of your energy into logistics and money where does that actually get you? Freaking out and planning planning only gives you heartburn.

I guess this is where I can relate to some people who believe in god and going to church. They are onto something when they relinquish their lives to god. I mean they can have something/someone to surrender their lives to. I am not pretending to know much about religion, I just can understand wanting to trust in something and know that everything will work out because there is a plan for you. No matter how hard you work or what you do--things will work out how they are going to work out. I am the same way but without all of the religion.

It's good to have goals and work towards things but being so wrapped into things that you forget about the meaning of life, just seems so pointless. I suppose some need to keep their minds busy in order not to think about what they should actually be dealing with.

Mainly, I believe that balancing your life will help you lead a happier life. I suppose this email from said friend has taught me a lesson and happened for a reason---No matter how much you think you know someone-you don't. I will continue to open up to people and hopefully each person I come into contact with will teach me a lesson about life and friendships but preferably in a more positive way but I can take both.

I have to say I had every intention of taking a ton of pictures while in Fresno. I think I did just the opposite. I think I need a point and shoot camera. It's time. My big ol' Cannon is great, don't get me wrong. I still plan on using it but when it comes to quick pics to capture a moment-I hate lugging it around. It's too big. I have learned that I never take pictures anymore because I have to carry it around. I need to find a middle ground kind of camera. I don't want to spend a lot at all but I want decent photos. Not looking for brilliant photography, just the ability to capture the laughs.

I love summer dinners. Fresh fruits and vegetables....need I say more? We are lucky enough to have two farmers market in our area alone. It's super fantastique!

Continuing on this summer with heat that is in the 80's. This I can handle. The past 10 days have been 90 and above and sometimes 100 and above. That rarely happens in these parts. I have to say I am really glad it's over. I hope the heat stays in other parts of the world. Sorry other parts of the world.

I am finally getting some energy back into my life. The first trimester was just tiresome and exhausting. There was no room for cleaning, organizing, or just doing anything for that matter. Now I am taking pictures, cooking, hanging out a little more and trying to be more like myself. Phew!

It's late and not too much is going on except it's hot! I don't know what to do in heat when I don't have a pool or the beach. Am I spoiled? Maybe, I am or maybe it's the fact that I grew up in a place that was always super hot, so finding a pool wasn't hard. In fact, we had one in our backyard. And when we didn't have a pool-one our friends did or we used a slip and slide. Dang. Those were fun times!

Just got back from Hawaii. Relaxed a ton. Swam a lot. Slept a lot. and ate yummy food. Enjoyed spending time with my honey. We had a good time.

Looking forward to seeing so many fun, happy, nice faces this weekend. I am going to take pictures. I haven't been doing that much lately. I am a little on the tired side.

FB is great! I love it but let's not forget how to be real friends (me included). The kind that show genuine compassion. I am a big fan. It's easy to keep in contact with people you don't really get to see and to say hi to those you love when time gets busy busy. I just don't want to forget the real world of chatter, hanging out and most of all....laughing!

I do have to say thank you to my lovely friend Shannon--Thank you! You are super fantastic. She got me a floppy white hat for Hawaii. She saw the hat and knew that I wanted one and snagged it for me. Also, she gave me a framed knitted owl picture that her grandmother made. How nice is that? I mean, really. She thinks of people even when they are not around. That is too sweet. She is good people. xo

And this good weather has left our yard blooming and our new maple tree looking pretty! Can't wait til it's big.

Defining friendships is one of those things that certainly does not come easy. I mean you cannot possibly expect people to abide by your rules which is what sort of happens when you define it. So, while I try not to really define friendship, on the flip side, there are aspects that make my skin crawl. I suppose over the past few years, I have certainly created some boundaries and feel really good about those. Overall, I think friendships are forever changing and that is healthy for the human soul.

For me---there are acquaintances, friends and then there are the friends who I feel are family. They are your best friends. For me, it's a big deal to have people in this group. After moving around so much and not having much of a family growing up--trusting that my close friends are actually that takes a lot for me. I find a lot of comfort in my friends and find it easy for them to feel like family because I grew up having friends as my family.

Something that I know is the most important in any relationship is communication.

Friends (and animals) are radical and I love them. They are the people that make me smile! Thanks for being awesome, friends.

It's not all about you. For reals.

In my spare time, ha, not really but when I like to distract myself with stuff--I have been going to estate sales, yard sales, and thrift stores. I have managed to find some really good stuff. Due to the overwhelming amount of cute stuff out there--I decided to post vintage items to my Etsy shop, for fun. Here are a couple of things that I have bought:

Last weekend we went to St. Helens and went to some thrift stores and a swap meet. For a small town we found a few things. We were actually on our way to Means Nursery and Joy Creek too but were distracted by signs that said, "Swap meet on the waterfront in St. Helens." Yeah, you can't really pass that up. Turned out that it actually hadn't started yet. Dang. Still so much fun though!

Here we are today: after yard work, yummy breakfast and lunch, some cleaning--we are watching the end of season 4 of 'The Wire'. And can I just say...OMG.

I know it's crazy but I love Martha Stewart. There are so many other creative blogs and don't get me wrong-I read those too! I promise. And I know that Martha does not come up with all of the ideas that are on her website, tv show and any other media outlet she owns. I just know it's a trusty wealth of information. One of my favorite parts is the 'Craft of the Day'. Every day they list a new craft with details and even a video! I am such a cheeseball.

Oh and have you heard? People are making a big deal of Michelle Obama's sleeveless dresses. Oh dear. I am so glad she is not wearing sleeves. People are complaining that it says she doesn't take speeches and being a first lady seriously. Bring on the Bare arms! Doesn't she look so not serious?

Because we don't often get vacations, we like to stay in a hotel when we go to Fresno. It's fun and relaxing to have a place to go after visiting family. My favorite new fresno hotel is La Quinta on Tulare. Watch out! Plus they let up to two dogs in their rooms. Um....we have two, so that is perfect.
Our drive down wasn't too bad although with puppy in tow took about 2 hours longer than normal. Oh well....it was worth it.

We had a great time seeing friends and family. I didn't take a lot of pictures which I am bummed about. Next time I suppose. I did take some photos of our trip to the park. Our family is the cutest.

Ollie and Ivy did REALLY well together. We are so so happy they got along. Of course Ollie also scared poor Ivy sometimes because he is so jumpy. But she was gentle with him and you could tell he was aware of the fact that she was a little human. He was super gentle at first then monster puppy wanted to emerge.

Where to begin. One of my most favorite-est people. We've known each other since birth so, there is a lot to cover. Also the whole being cousins thing adds a whole other element. With all of that I know no matter what she will always be in my life. She is another person in my life who I know that we can just pick up where we left off. We have a bond that will be with us through out our lives. We are a lot like sisters. Although, I wish we lived closer and saw each other more often--I know each of us holds each other close to our hearts. I know I can trust her and know that she only has the best of intentions. She is sweet, lovable, and FUNNY! Plus so much more.....I appreciate her in my life and hope the best for her in her life. And how do you resist that cute blonde? You don't. I love you, Ms. Cara. xo

I got lucky! My dear friend R let me borrow a couple of her walking books! So, I have..."Walking Portland," which is a Falcon Guide and "Portland Hill Walks," by Laura O. Foster. Wahoo! Since my schedule will be changing soon, I will be able to utilize these books on Saturdays and Sundays. Hello Weekends. Gotta see what the other walkers want to do first but I am thinking.....Pittock Mansion Loop--first. We'll see.....

I am still at 3.2 miles. Which is fine by me because it's exhausting. I am ready for another mile or so methinks. I need some real running shoes though. Like for reals. I also need a smaller ipod. The one we have is big. I need one of those clippy ones. You know the kind? Oh it's actually called an ipod clip.

Actually, I just need the Nike + shoes with the sensor thing. I so WANT IT! OH boy, that is my next big purchase.

Through the years the two of us have gone our separate ways and come back together. She is one of those friends that no matter what you can pick up where you left off even if you haven't seen each other for 5 years. I am glad that as of recent we live near each other and see each other often. I know that no matter what I can depend on her for a shoulder to cry on, a helpful hand, a dance party, a game player, or someone to just sit and talk with. Sometimes we talk about nothing and that is okay. We see friendship in a very similar way. Mutual respect for each other. If I am just having a bad day, I know I can count on her to make the effort to come hangout with me without hesitation. And she knows I would do the same for her. She is always ready to give level headed advice and wants the best for others. She strives to be the best person she can be. And is probably the least selfish person I know. Thanks for being so awesome! You are fantastic.

New blog ideas stolen from new and old....

Stolen blog idea #1: Going to purchase a walking tour book of Portland and go for it. Then I will log it here. Let you know how it is and post some photos! Woot. I already have one of the hiking trails of Portland books, so I think I will mix it up.

Stolen blog idea #2: Randomly and every so often I will post a friend appreciation photo with a paragraph or two of why I think they are awesome and super fantastic. About 2 years ago, I did a livejournal post giving a shout out to all the amazing people in my life. Let's relive that and start a new way of doing it. It will be even better.

Looking at my life, I have so many fantastic friends. Friends that are close. Friends that are closer and many friendly acquaintances. And I am so thankful for these people in my life. Thankful in so many different ways.

Not Stolen blog idea #1: Going to post my growing out hair every so often. Don't get too excited! I am even going to grow out my bangs. We'll see how long that lasts.

Not Stolen blog idea #2: Very seldomly will update my jogging status.

Not Stolen blog idea #3: Going to attempt to photo a dinner a month with a brief overview and pictures, of course. Maybe I'll utilize that Holga camera that has been in the box forever. Maybe.

Old friends--New times

Today is an old friend's 30th birthday. That is right. I still remember stuff like this. I am not all sentimental but part of me wants to pick up the phone and say, "hey, happy birthday!" Mostly cuz I did that every year for awhile. Once I even threw her a surprise party. She was surprised and it was awesome. BUT contacting her now is not a possibility and it would be incredibly weird and uncomfortable, so instead I will write a blurb on my blog and feel good about it.

In other news, the puppy is coming along just great. Ollie is getting bigger and bigger! I need to post photos soon. here is one for now....

Let's look back to 2008. What did we do? And what do I want for 2009.

1. So many lovely backyard BBQ's. Most years we try to travel. This year was nice because we needed and wanted to enjoy our house. There was gardening, BBQ-ing, and redecorating to be had.

2. Got an adorable baby puppy boy--Ollie.

3. Made lots of new friends. Who are fantastic and hope to have them in our lives for lots of years to come.
4. Experienced 'Artic Blast 2008'. That was fun.

5. Had a ladies night(2 times!) which was fabulous.
6. Was snowed in and had a friend's xmas.
7. Friends Thanksgiving

8. Went to Seattle
9. Halloween party
10. went to the beach house
11. built garden boxes
12. planted a ton of plants/trees
13. finally went to the zoo
14. attempted a knit night.
15. weddings/birthdays oh my
16. biggest election in my lifetime
17. went to san francisco
18. redecorated spare room
19. went to fresno

20. reconnected with old friends.which has been amazing.

what i would like to accomplish in 2009 and beyond....

1. continued mindfulness
2. try to keep only those healthy relationships in my life. eliminate any tiny amount of negative energy from others, including passive aggressive behavior (and, of course, in myself too). no more self centered people who only do things to benefit themselves and i think have no idea. it's exhausting and a waste of my good energy.
3. continuing good health practices: yoga, running, swimming, strength training, repeat. these things, as well as, continued attention to what goes into my body.
4. be a good mommy to ollie, rosie, bela and venus
5. travel a bit more this year--including Hawaii, Cleveland and possibly Mexico
6. get ollie fully trained and ready for some serious agility training. fun!
7. be the best wife, friend, sister, and daughter i can be

The puppy is loving his new little life. I think. I am going with he does because he is a cute little happy looking munchkin. He runs around and bites his tail, yelps and plays serious games that include jumping and biting with Rosie for hours.

In about 10 days little Ollie will join in rambunctious play with other wee puppies. We have enrolled him in puppy kindergarten! Yay! He is going to love every minute of it. Which will be followed by agility training.

A couple of people have brought to our attention how much he looks like a Newfoundland mix. Uh.....is anyone aware of the size of those guys? It's totally cool though. While he might be massive, he will be a cuddly bear. Newfoundland's tend to be mellow cuddle dogs, so we'll see.

I imagine he'll look something like this when he is a little bigger....

happy holidays to you and yours!

The holidays have been full of fun and adventure. Our traveling plans were recently canceled due to the an insane snow storm that the Pacific Northwest endured. The east coasters may think we are wimps but it closed us down. I am not exactly sure how much snow we got but it looked at it's deepest about 2 feet or so. It is still with us--this snow. It's getting slushy and brown but the side streets are still hard to drive on, if you can get your car moving.

Christmas was spent with friends, tamales, beans, rice, pumpkin pie, sweet potato mash, wine, whiskey, games, music and chatting. It was mellow and fun. I am thankful for all those great folks and their dedication to trudge through the snow for a little xmas spirit. I totally didn't take any photos which bums me the heck out.

In other news:
+we celebrated scott's birthday.
+we recently had a ladies night. The ladies brought their yummiest dish and shared it with everyone. It worked out perfectly. Hopefully, this can be a tradition.
+i baked more cookies/breads/crumbles than i ever had baked before. a small portion of what i actually baked.

+started a book club. first book: middlesex

+and other stuff too.

I did not have to work yesterday and I don't have to work today what with this crazy winter weather. This means all of the hobby stuff I wanted to try and squeeze in are now totally possible. Got the xmas cards out the door, almost done xmas shopping, started baking, and will whip up some Rosie Ro. goods. All of this while the whole "artic blast 2008" continues to reign in our holiday season. I am so thankful for our fantastic heating system. It is so cozy and warm, I just can't believe it. Sometimes I wish I had a fireplace but cannot complain about the heating system we do have.

This picture will forever be a nice little adventure and memory of "artic blast 2008". My brave manager and I decided to attempt the trek to work which is quite far from our homes in this weather. She has a Subaru and is from Kansas, so we figured with her driving experience and 4 wheel drive--we had it made. That was until we started our way to the 2nd freeway we needed to merge onto. Things became blurry from the snow blowing side ways. There was a truck spun out on the side of the road. Then my co-worker turned to me and asked me where we were? That is when I knew we might be screwed. At this point, we finished out the crossing of the bridge and went home. It took her 50 minutes to get home from my house (usually a 25-30 min drive). Thank goodness we got home safe!

Racing through T.V. channels, I stopped on ABC world news (I think). They were doing a special on the 'Mates of State'. I just so happen to L.O.V.E. them. They were doing a segment on how they work as a family on the road touring all over the place. I give some serious props to them for sticking by their passion to make music while really making the effort be great parents and provide such an awesome experience that most children will never get to see. Mr. and Mrs. Mates of State keep a blog sharing some of their life experiences as parents on the go. And I don't mean just go to the store and work. I mean seriously on the go---temporary house on wheels--on the go. I know I am going to be addicted to reading their blog now. Add that to my list of daily reads. There is definitely something intriguing about living the life as a rock star and at the same time--being able to have a family. It's adorable.

Mr. man and I decided that after the election we would take a little vacation. We weren't planning anything fancy but something that took us out of our own heads and let us relax. What better place to go than to the close by neighboring big city--Seattle. We decided that yes indeed this is where we would go. I googled the heck out of a hotel with a jacuzzi tub because I was on a mission to sit in a jacuzzi tub. Guess what folks? I found one. Oh yes...I did.

While we were there we explored the cities finest attractions and were graced with great weather, great friends and great food and drinks. I must share: it was about 55-60 degrees and SUNNY.

We also randomly ran into the Repeal Prop 8 march they were having in Seattle while exploring Volunteer park. It was massive. Our trip was planned many moons ago or else we would have been in full gear and ready to rally for this cause in a heart beat. Instead while in Seattle, we watched and cheered and took photos.

I have a back log of photos and many words that could be spewed. Instead, I leave you with something very important to me. Yay for Obama! I am happy that we are taking steps in the right direction. I can live with that-I really can. The night was full of tasty food-enchiladas oozing with cheese and covered in sour cream, good friends, sweet lucy and some good ol fashion cuttin' a rug. Halloween has past and it left me with 8 lbs of candy. uh oh.....I will be sending that with Mr. man, so he can share it with his co-workers. I am sure they will appreciate it. :) It also left me with fond memories of awesome costumes. This being one of the best!

This week consists of studying, of course. It is also going to entail applying for jobs. Not just any kind of job though--retail! My schedule is just so wonky, that I cannot get a job that will work with my schedule. To be honest, it isn't even that wonky. oh well. I have to put on my work boots and go fill out manual application after manual application. It's not forever. Hopefully I'll get in with some seasonal position. That would be perfect. Wish me luck.

Sometimes I just can't believe how awesome some of the recipes in 'Vegan with a Vengeance' are! I had planned for this week to have this easy pasta dish made with olive tapenade...Mostly I was thinking simple, fast and I am sure tasty. It actually turned out so much better than I had anticipated. Let me share.........

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1/2 lb. orechiette
1 tbsp olive oil
1 medium-sized red onion, sliced into thin half moons (about 1 cup)
1 lb cherry tomatoes, halved

For the tapenade:

1 1/2 cups kalamata olives, pitted
3 tbsp capers, drained
2 cloves of garlic (or if you are me--4!)
handful of fresh parsley
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp dried tarragon
a few dashes of fresh ground pepper
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
2 tbsp olive oil

Prepare the tapenade:
combine all the tapenade ingredients in a blender or food processor.

Prepare everything else:
prepare the pasta according to its package directions. while the pasta is boiling saute the onions and cherry tomatoes in the olive oil over medium heat for about 7 minutes.

Apparently adding that little bit of red wine vinegar is what makes a tapenade awesome. I cannot believe I am just learning this. If you invite me to a party. Guess what I am bringing?

Let me not bore you with the I've been busy story. Although, please please expect it in the future. Today while standing in my kitchen--I realized that I truly enjoy the form/design style it's taken since we have moved in. One of my main goals in starting fresh and buying our first home was to start out sparse and continue to let it grow without letting it get too cluttered. I am sure we have time for clutter but for now I am smitten with our kitchen. It may not look like much via my photo skills but I love it.

So we lose our t.v. to a horrible death of muteness. Okay, no big deal, right? Right. Just before our t.v. lost it's sound-I canceled my Myspace page. I could not stop checking my page. It was an obsession. Self control became an issue. In my bored hours--instead of reading, gardening or what have you...I would Myspace it up. No more. It's gone. Well, it's almost gone. They are deleting it now. SO NOW-I do not have a Myspace account or a T.V. People these two things use to absorb so much of my time. Now, I have prepared a list for you of things I have done since discarding those two items. It feels liberating and oh so weird. I am weird. I know. Call me weirdo Mcweido-son it's fine.

1. I read a book in 1 and 1/2 days. Wha you say?! Yes, I did. This is unheard of from me.

2. We finally went and got this oh so special organic soil (Edna's) that is amazing and filled our last garden bed. It already has proven to be better then the other soil we bought. The little starter guys are so happy.

3. We rode our bikes to Kelly Point Park.

4. Started in on the largest stack of bills in the history of the world. Don't worry they are paid-they just need to be put in there proper spots.
5. I finally changed out the window planter boxes to perennials so now they will last and last. hopefully.

Also, side note--I am going to cut my hair off. Not sure what yet but I am gonna do it. eek.

We have not a single TV in our house. Just yesterday it started acting up and now it just doesn't work. We have an old school tube t.v. I had no idea we were so behind the times. Not until today anyways. We thought, we'll just hop in the car and run on out and get us a new t.v. Nuh uh. We went to 3 different stores. They all make it impossible to buy the old school tube t.v. I will just warn you now. The cheapest t.v. we could find was $550.00. Oh heck no. There are so many other things that I want that are that price or more. I started to think....I spend so much time watching t.v. but really I couldn't fathom spending that much money on one. Soooooooooooo....we have decided to see how long we can go with out one. You know how you realize things about yourself? Sometimes for the first time and others for like the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time? Below is a list of those things.

1. I love hate/sweet snacks. That includes....hershey kisses. A lot of them. Especially under stress. Please notice there are no hershey kisses in picture below. They are in my belly and now part of my, well, you know.

2. I like to throw just about anything on the grill, including romaine lettuce. Scrumptious.
3. I can't read 1 book at a time. I just can't. I am serious.
4. TV on DVD rocks my world.
5. I love being a homeowner and having this house to call our own. a lot. a lot. i love it.
6. Our animals are spoiled and it's fun.
7. Decorating our new house gives me great satisfaction.
8. There are still so many places I haven't seen.
9. I am ready for a fun summer. Does summer still include sun in other parts of the world? I forget living in Portland. Although, the weather has been magnificent lately.
10. I love finding treasures at estate sales.

11. My family is the cutest especially when they feed Lorikeets at the zoo.

12. I like to be surprised. My something from the somethingstore.com came and here it is....a wine bag! A fancy sturdy one-lined with felt. It's cute. I am happy with it. It was worth it.

13. Gardening makes me happy. Look how happy the veggies are.

14. I love picnics with homemade pizza.

15. I can't stop buying new plants and veggie and fruit and herb trees....

This week my mom and I went plant shopping. We bought A LOT of plants. At first, I was completely overwhelmed by my yard. Sort of a blank canvas. Which just meant over thinking every aspect of what I wanted to do with it. I decided to start with the front yard and just go for it.

And that is just what I did. We took a nice drive out to Scappoose, OR. Found ourselves a couple of great nurseries and loaded car with more plants then it could barely handle. Between my mom and I they were planted in a jiffy. Woot!

Now, for the backyard. That is going to be a serious task. My plan is to have that overgrown foresty feel. Some pathways....maybe a pond. Or what about a waterfall? This one is going to take serious planning and preparation. I am so excited for this task.

My new favorite flower is the Peony. Not sure why I have just decided this. Mostly, in the past I haven't felt the need to pick a favorite flower. I like all flowers. Sure, some I like more than others but overall I like to give the love to all of the flowers. Yesterday, we picked some Peonies from a U-pick place out here in Portland. We picked 8 of them. I picked one 1 white one that was completely closed and today it has started opening. It is so beautiful.

Just when you thought no one cared. You are walking down the street and find a guy holding a sign that says, "free hugs." It's not a joke-they will really give you a hug.

Seems the "free hugs" were banned. How do you ban hugs? Why would you make the people suffer? Although now the ban has been released and people can get their hugs on. I am so glad this ended happily. God, I need a hug now. The guy who started it even went on Oprah. HUGS.

I am so very far behind in the happenings of anything.

At least twice a day, I think of things I could write about. Then I forget and get backed up. Here is an update of sorts.

Recently, I made a delish summer salad. No olive oil-only veggies and lemon juice..oh and sea salt. Talk about simple and delicious. You have got to try it.

We have been working so hard on projects around our house. We have completely redone the 2nd bedroom. Which proved to be a seriously daunting task. Now we just need to pull it all together. I am now on the hunt for fun vintage filler. You know the kind? Dishes, knick knacks, etc...gunnabeawsum!

Our yesterday was insanely busy. We helped moved some friends into their new apartment. yeehaw! The new place is double the size of our house. Maybe bigger.

Then we went to a wedding. That was o so sweet and wonderful. Nothing better than a ceremony on a beautiful farm under a giant oaktree. The reception blessed my tummy with some red velvet cupcakes.

This was our view from our table. Yeah, we live in a beautiful beautiful place.

And not too far off the beaten path, you could find these little guys.

Lastly, we headed out to a friends late night birthday cocktail hour-z. SC and I played a very long game of pool and I lost. We were so glad that game was over. And, of course, we played some hot dice where I lost lost again. And there may or may not have been 3 glasses of liquid knocked over all within 6 minutes. That is when you know the party has really started.

A yuppie? Are we yuppies?

We have recently been informed that because we want to buy a boat-we are yuppies! We are not yuppies in my book.

The argument was interesting though. If we are yuppies based on being a hip urban professional than I will take that title. Unfortunately, that means we are all yuppies in our group of friends-even if you are in the educational field.

And then I had to think why do I hate this term? It's because a yuppie to me is an attitude..a demeanor that goes with having money to act that way. It reminds me of those people that I didn't like in high school because they based their status on material things. And as an adult, they are people who I don't really associate with. I don't consider my friends yuppies because they are not snotty and uptight.

So, anyways...I take the term yuppie (according to my definition) as an insult.

We are still selling our car and buying a boat and an old diesel car, so that we can run it on biodiesel.

Coming across tool after tool after grungy old crap, I realized that maybe just maybe we weren't dealing with the same kind of flea markets I was used to. It was the first one I have been to in Portland, so I don't have much experience. I can say that this one most definitely sucks it. I did however find a mixing bowl to add to my collection. It's the one below in the foreground. Not too shabby. I have decided I am going to start collecting old bakeware again. again. I am not an avid baker and I suck at vegan baking but the bowls and old Pyrex make me happy.

Following our Sunday Flea Market trip, I dragged Mr. Man to an estate sale. I am a sucker for these sales. Mr. Man get totally weirded out by them. And, of course, there is something strange about rummaging through a dead persons things. Although, often these sales go to fund a burial or house payments. I am sure the families keep what they need and want. And most of the time, they hire someone to deal with the customers and the family does not have to deal with the chaos. I guess part of me is totally justifying my many trips to estate sales.

The one we went to on Sunday was awesome. It was also on Saturday and you could tell that she (and I say she because a lot of stuff reminded me of my grandma's) had a lot of great stuff that was scooped up on Saturday. I know when my grandma passed we took everything we wanted and the rest we had to sale because we didn't have room for it. Although, if I did have room-I would have kept so much more. Below is what I got from the estate sale. A great mixing bowl and some awesome tin with pink plastic handled measuring cups! cuteness!

Then to keep Sunday in line, we decided that we should start building our first 2-4 x 4 veggie garden boxes. We ran out to the plywood store and pondered....cedar vs. pine? hmm.....We came to the conclusion that while cedar is better and will last longer we want went with pine because we hope to revamp the landscaping in the yard and may just completely change things in the next couple of years anyhow. Got home and drilled away. Attached the weed barrier to the bottom and viola-we have one finished. To make things even more exciting, we had to get a zip TRUCK and go out and get 1/2 ton of soil to dump in our new veggie bed. FUN! One down. One to go.

And because I must have had ants in my pants...I kept going. I re-planted our herbs into bigger pots, mowed the lawn and bought some veggies that still need some planting.

Our good friends, B & S, were kind enough to host a house show yesterday. Not only was it a house show with the famous DYM but an opportunity to meet a local contender, Jim Middaugh who is running for Eric Sten's old seat at City Hall. Read more about Jim Middaugh...here. It was a pretty good turn out. Our goal was to get people thinking and possibly involved and even more-vote! Personally, I learned more and feel even more confident on where my vote will go.

If you know French (I think that is what it is). Then when you click the following link, Blogotheque, you'll be able to really understand the bloggers intention. I, on the other hand, have not a clue what they are actually writing about but understand the concept behind their videos. It's basically, one-take uncut raw music videos. Some include raw materials, such as, bottles and spoons in place of their instruments. They shoot in random places and most recently it was the city of New York. Seeing the raw uncut versions of music in random settings, like not at a concert hall or on a pretentious music video...helps give you a true sense of what the musicians are feeling. You can see their passion. It's more like seeing a live show. The music videos these days are fairly filled with layers of fancy moves and over extended story telling. Why do that when you can just film a music video in NY in one take or where ever else they are?

I love how people on the Metro in this video (#87.1) are all drinking.

I was on the swim team in High School. I was actually good and I had to stop because I ended up having the worst panic attacks and anxiety before every meet because I was expected to win. I would throw up or almost throw up before each meet, so I quit. I am no where in the picture below-thank you Google.

I go to therapy every 2 weeks and I will go for the rest of my life. It is the one place where I can spew all of my crap. A place to dump and then work on it all and be a better person. cheesy but true.

Both of my grandparents spoke/speak fluent Spanish and all I know is, "Hola, como esta?" or something. Ay yi yi...

I moved out with my best friend right after high school. I was not ready to live in the free world yet. We were evicted because we lit our kitchen on fire making falafel and had parties everyday. I am not sure why they would kick us out. I still can't believe we survived. All we ate was pizza and sandwiches. Thank god they evicted us and we had to move back in with our parents. We still had a few things to learn.
I moved 15 times by the time I was 15 years old. Surprisingly, I managed to go to only 2 elementary schools, 1 junior high and 1 high school. This was 15 moves within the same town-can you believe?

I finally received my official welcome to Zipcar email today. Although, I am having the zipcard sent to me in the mail which means I still have to wait. I am so excited for my little grocery store jaunts in the Zipcar. Hubby uses the car to go to work most of the time because he has to commute an hour + each day-one way. I don't need a car but it is going to be so nice if I can pick up and run a random errand when he does have the car. Yay! We have a little zippy car right around the corner from our house. hizzah.

76 degrees and sunny in Portland, Oregon. You may be scratching your head pondering the idea but YES-it actually happened. A few friends and I decided to gear up and make some plans for the big day. We decided that yard work/lounging in the sun was in order and then a BBQ. Before we had the BBQ, we lounged in LOUNGE CHAIRS and read and hubby did yard work-go hubby! We grabbed some SPF 50, sunglasses, a hat, and our lounge chairs. We then hit the backyard-Cali style without the pool. When I closed my eyes I could see a sparkling pool.

My cutie husband worked so hard weeding/yardening. Our adorable dog, Rosie, was helping.

It was an impromptu BBQ, which meant there was really no planning. In the end, this meant a lot of food. Never a bad thing though. Who doesn't need 13 bags of chips.

Friends from Cali were in town to enjoy our 1 day of really awesome weather.

We played in the sun.

Some four square had to be played. I need some practice. I suck. and I really don't mind.

By the end of the night, Wubbit became sad that she had to leave.

Today it's partly cloudy and warm. Although, as I write this....the clouds are rolling in. We are to expect SLEET this week. huh.

And, because I can-a list of to-do's and stuff:
--Must make a grocery list.
--Go grocery shopping.
--Finish my part of the weeding.
--Finish knitting the 2 scarves I started 1 thousand years ago.
--Finish reading 'Kafka on the shore'-sheesh. Good but sheesh.
--Re-arrange our 2nd room to be my office. I don't even know where to start. I might need to call in Kate of All Trades.
--Buy some new kicks. (Summer sandals and tennis shoes).
--Build a garden box. PLANT VEGGIES.

Feel the sun seep into your skin

I just popped in the "Sleater Kinney" cd, One Beat. I forgot how much I love that album. I became re-obsessed with them when this album came out. They did an incredible job of evolving and not sounding exactly the same as before and stepping it up. They are true musicians. Not just chicks playing instruments and that is something I have always truly admired about them. This album holds a lot of memories for me. Music has played a huge in my life. I don't play an instrument although I have tried and felt I just wasn't cut out for it. I love going to shows and hearing new fresh music. Someday, I hope to go the ladies rock camp-here in Portland, OR. Coincidentally, Carrie Brownstein teaches at the girls rock camp...or has in the past.

Some of the proceeds from this ladies camp goes toward funding the girls rock camp. I can definitely get behind that. I have always been too shy and pretty much was terrified of the idea of being on a stage. Now, I don't care. sort of. I am going to be that girl.

I leave you a little rock. Not from 'One beat' but from 'The Woods.' Hot Damn. You cannot deny the hotness these ladies exude.

Vacation all I ever wanted....

The thought of visiting Fresno, CA even though we were born and raised there often gives us an instant headache. It's hot, flat, dry, and there is pretty much nothing to do except go to the oh so famous River Park mall...which has doubled in the past year-thank you urban sprawl and no greenbelt. Don't get me wrong it can be charming in some areas-tower district. There are some pretty great people and I have had my fair share of good times there. I just have no desire to visit often nor do I want to plant the forever seed there. Just incase you haven't a clue where it is....it's right there. in hotville.

We headed down for our 1st trip back for the year. First stop was Oakland and we visited an old friend and her new baby-who happens to be absolutely adorable. While in the bay area, we headed into the city and enjoyed a delectable vegan meal here. We sipped expensive muddled cocktails, enjoyed catching up with old friends, and ate a magnificent meal.

While in SF we stayed at hotel right on the Trolley line which proved to be semi-obnoxious. The sound of the trolley car rumbling down the street and the "ding ding" of the bell rattled my brain about every 15 minutes until 130 am. Hint to all-don't stay on trolley line if you are a light sleeper.

This time in our qwest to enjoy Fresno a little more, we stayed at hotels. The first one was quite the keeper. Right in downtown Fresno attached to a Subway. That is living people. For an economical hotel for one night-it worked. I mean it had free wi-fi!

From here we moved onto hotel number 3 of our week long trip. I decided jumping on the bed was definitely the way to go.

With those few perks that Fresno does have it includes farm fresh fruit and most of all-it has SUN!Late night hangouts with some very good friends. Love them.

1, 2, 3, 4....and I am not referring to counting money because the more you have the more excited you get-instead I am talking working out at the gym and counting the ridiculous amount of sit-ups you have to do everyday in order for your stomach to toughen up-yeah, right. While you still get some good solid satisfaction from pushing yourself that very last yard or mile-it's not like counting the bucks, especially when it's enough to buy up some new kicks. I need new kicks.

For the past 3 months I have been going to the gym about 5 times a week on average. I have not lost a single pound. This hasn't slowed me down because I know myself and I know that for the first 3 months my body has to go through this stage where it refuses to really show me progress. So, here I am 3 months later and feeling so much better about myself even though I haven't lost the weight. That is so important to me. Now, I wait for some inches to decrease and some pounds to come off. Being at the gym every morning has been a combination of learning experiences.

1. I learned that I don't hate Feist. I sort of want to though because ALL of her songs belong in commercials. This is my very own personal opinion. I just thought she was annoying. BUT while at the gym-I have been forced to watch her latest video on a couple of occasions and now I watch it because she is so damn cute and I want to dance around in a sea of fireworks.

2. I have learned for possibly the millionth time that I don't really see results until after 3 months. for serious. It's okay though because I feel sooooo much better mentally and
and physically.

3. Aside from my everyday workout shoes, I need kicks that are cute and not all boring.

4. Working out in the morning has proven to be my savior.

5. Those tiny total gym babes exist and some of them are just not that nice.

All those things that cause a party in your pants. p.a.n.t.s. Maybe not in your pants but get you excited none the less. and tingly. not down there but possibly. Discovering new "stuff" no matter its reason for existence is one of my many hobbies-it's part of my daily routine. I like to be well informed-just incase it's something I would want to start doing myself. Whether it be for that milli-second that it holds my ADD attention span...I still need to know that it exists so I can ponder the limitless possibilities. Here are just a few.

1. Getting a Holga Camera or a Polaroid Camera. Taking a photo class to learn to take photos! i have become smitten with the photo/foodie blog linked from photo below. Love.

2. Making Jewelry...rings, bracelets, necklaces. Taking metal and creating wonderful masterpieces. In the meantime, I need to buy an Amy Tavern piece. So Amazing!

3. Starting a consignment shop. Selling the goods of young men and women entrepreneur's from all over the world. Whether it be on-line or a brick and mortar location. This would be my dream job. Places to find inspiration...

Vegan Biscuits and Gravy!

On Sunday night, we went a tad bit crazy. It was a day of baking and cooking. non-stop. We made soyrizo tacos for Breakfast, biscuits and gravy for dinner and carrot cake for dessert!

So, for months, we have talked about vegan biscuits and gravy and how we should make them. It always seemed as if it would be a daunting task. It wasn't and it would have been worth it if it had been daunting. The biscuits were baked to perfection. They had a hint of oregano and satisfied my biscuit eating urge. The mushroom gravy was perfect in consistency and so easy to make. From now on....our Thanksgiving gravy JUST got gourmet because we will always make this recipe.

Then to top it off, we made a vegan carrot cake with fresh ginger.

From-"La Dolce Vegan!" Amazing Vegan Cookbook...buys it up.

Basic Baking Powder Biscuits
2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp dried oregano
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup vegan margarine
3/4 cup "milk"
1 tsp apple cider vinegar

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder, oregano, and salt. Stir in the margarine, "milk", and vinegar until well blended. Cut dough into 6 even amounts and place into lightly oiled muffin tins; or roll dough out on floured surface and cut with large cookie cutters and place on baking sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick or knife comes out clean. Makes about 6 large biscuits.

Malloreigh's Mushroom Gravy!
2 tbsp vegan margarine
4-6 button mushrooms, finely chopped
3 tbsp flour
1 tbsp nutritional yeast
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp tamari
1 cup vegetable stock

In medium saucepan on medium-high heat, saute the mushrooms in margarine until soft. Add the flour, nutritional yeast, pepper, and tamari; stir constantly until thickened. Whisk in stock 1/4 cup at a time, stirring constantly until thickened. Blend in food processor if you want smooth gravy or serve as is. Makes approx. 1 1/2 cups.

In the midst of watching "Lost" during one of the 2 minute commercial extravaganzas-low and behold...........................YAZ!
This claims to eliminate the oh so awful PMS symptoms we ladies endure every single stupid month. Although, when you go to their site they barely even mention the bullet points they hit on the commercial...eliminating....fatigue, moodiness, bloating, etc...(except briefly in the very beginning where the hot blonde is exercising). Obviously, they want people to visit their website. Unfortunately, it's a lot of nothing except fluff and what ALL other birth control pills do-lighter periods, reduce acne, fewer menstrual cramps, more regular periods, etc... Their big question is do you have premenstrual dysphoric disorder-PMDD or PMS? If you have PMDD then this is the perfect birth control pill for you plus it clears up acne!

BUT...

"The effectiveness of YAZ for PMDD when used for more than three menstrual cycles has not been evaluated. YAZ has not been evaluated for the treatment of premenstrual syndrome (PMS)."

uh oh. Girls, we may have to just stick to the same old same old.

There was a time when I would photograph our dinners and blog about them on a separate blog-which I no longer use. really. Last night was a good example of why I should start that up again and continue it as often as I can. We had some friends over last night and enjoyed the company of their new (7 month) old little baby girl. I didn't bust my camera out at ALL...so unlike me. Me and my phases are so unpredictable. Between pictures of the new baby and friends and the food we indulged in-we would have had one heck of an entry here.

Leek and Fennel Pasta:
Julienned Fennel
Chopped Leeks
Linguine
Large chopped chunks of Yellow Squash
Lots of dried herbs
Olive oil
(and for those non-vegans...herb crusted goat cheese to sprinkle on top)
and next time the juice of a lemon

Beet and Edamame salad:
Sliced and roasted red beets
Chopped Romaine lettuce
Steamed edamame
Sesame/soy vinaigrette
Chopped green onion

And the guests brought a tasty french loaf to accompany our dishes.

We also had dessert but um....it would have sent us all over the edge but just for sharing....
a scoop of Rice Dream Vanilla ice cream, raspberries and dark chocolate bits. Still sitting in the freezer for another day.

Plus we drank whiskey, red wine, white wine and beer-as a group-I didn't just drink all these different beverages in one night. Go us!

Like a cat, I curled up on my bed in that patch of sunlight and took a nap. OH the catnaps. The sun around these parts at this time of year is few and far between. At first, the nap was just going to be a plain ol' nap. BUT then I discovered the light and joined Venus (our cat) for a little shut eye. Now we BBQ in the sun. A little chilly but SUNNY none the less.

Why we'd maybe move back to SF, CA...

Okay, so we are not moving back anytime soon but we would move back maybe someday. Driving into the city over the bay bridge is one of my most favorite things to do. The sun is shining, your windows are rolled down....you just paid your $4 (now!) toll to cross the bridge and you start your way over the water. Once you tunnel your way through 'Treasure Island' your eyes are set on the tall buildings spanning across the financial district. All while music is blasting and you are taking in the whole city experience from a distance.

6 of my most favorites-there are more but these play a serious part:

1. The WEATHER (most of the time).

2. The hustle and the bustle. It's invigorating to have so much going on and to see.
3. THE FOOD- I recommend 'Cafe Viva' in North Beach, forget 'The Stinking Rose'! This place will steal your heart. yum!

4. You can pretty much walk everywhere. Where you can't walk you can take MUNI. Awesome!
5. Ocean Beach is like right there! Not only do you have big city BUT you have the ocean-RIGHT THERE!

6. It is much closer to our families

The Susan G. Komen 3 day walk has been scheduled.

This year I hope to take part in the 3-day walk put on by the Susan G. Komen foundation. I certainly couldn't run 60 miles but I CAN walk. I can walk and walk and walk, so I figure now is the time to step up to the plate. I think I will sign up for a team and then see if anyone wants to take part. Doing something for a great cause has to entice some peeps. :)

We just bought a house in December and I cannot help myself. I want to decorate it now! For once, it feels so satisfying to decorate. I have to be very careful as to not over decorate as well. There are so many amazing pieces of art, furniture, etc...that I want to add to our place. I have to really pull the breaks and ensure I am only buying what we need. I just bought these and they are coming from Amsterdam. We are so International. :) Absoluut has an amazing selection of different funky fun pillows, children's tees, and accessories.

These prints were recently added to our living room. The compositions in each are delightful. They keep the eye moving around the print as if there are stories to be told by each individual print. Which for obvious reasons...truly makes for a good piece of art. The sailboats in each make you feel like drifting away. Water moves throughout each and creates movement and a sense of serenity. To top it all off...the colors are superb for our home. Soon we'll have this amazing orange shag rug in our living room that will really bring out the autumnal colors. ooooo....ahhhhh.......

It worked! For the most part the whole "photobooth" idea worked. Had there been a tripod the photos would have come out even better. It is always super fun to have to strike a pose and not really now exactly how it will turn out. Oh the suspense! All I did was take the photos in photoshop and create the photobooth strip look by adding white lines and cropping them just right. voila. I highly recommend this. It adds some goofy fun and we can all use some of that.

Introduced "hot dice" to some new folks. Sounds overwhelming when you start describing the rules but once you start you become addicted and the party goes wild. L came into the game late, so we gave her some free points, so she could join in and then she almost kicked all of our butts.

The blueberry coconut pound cake muffins were a hit! Blueberries in anything make my heart and soul melt...these are an absolutely fabulous addition to this muffin. Because it's a pound cake they are dense but with the added blueberries they create a great texture, smooth and almost creamy.

I love ladies nights.

To bring in the new year, there are a few of us who will be getting together to eat, drink and maybe just maybe get a little crazy. For desert, I was searching for something that was like a cupcake but not. See above. I found the individual Blueberry-Coconut Pound Cake on the Food Network website. My only worry is that some will not like the coconut. It was only recently that I started liking coconut myself.

To do something different on my end, I am going to set up a spot that will basically be like a photo booth and put the old camera on auto and click away and see what the lense captures of our fun-ness. We'll see how well it works out.

Off and on throughout my life I have been a jogger. A little bit here and a little bit there. Recently, I have decided to go back to the gym because it rains too much here and I can't always just pop outside and do a little dance a roo in my neighborhood. I guess I could, although, I am not that fond of being sopping wet. Really. In my quest to maintain exercising through the rainy season, I signed on the dotted line and began my journey. Everyday after work I join the small group of people who lug their shit to the gym to keep up with their 2008 goals.

For the past month and a half, I have been religiously going. Pretty much not missing a day. Working myself up to a 25 minute run and 25 minutes of walking. Pretty good, eh? Yesterday, I decide to go to a cardio class and the emphasis is on kick boxing. I am thinking, "rad!" Oh no no...I get there and I am doing my thing, I am feeling good about this and still thinking..."wow, something to look forward to." Then..BAM...my knee gives out. Uh oh. I keep going because, well, I am not a quitter. Who cares that my knee pain is so bad it's shooting pains into my ass. Eventually, I give into the pain and tell the instructor with hopes that she has some advice in how to care for it. She takes one glance at my shoes and says, "how old are those?" Uh oh. I was caught. I couldn't even remember how old my shoes were. I was instructed to get a new pair because my current ones have no support and is most likely the reason my knee is messed up.

When I got home, I realized I had really done a number because it hurt SO bad and it was bruised. REALLY?! How old am I? Stupid Shoes. Today, I scour the internet for that perfect pair. Which ones? About.com has some advice on low cost good running shoes. Let's look.

To be quite honest, I can't believe I haven't read any of these. Sometimes, I miss the boat. This is one of those reads that was mentioned to me in conversation and it went in one ear and out the other. dumb. I should really pay better attention. It's not like I have completely lost the ability to read it or that it has been taken away, it's just that, Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud, have made this series into an animated movie. 'House' on Hawthorne, here in Portland rocks my world quite often...which is where I found the above set of owls to hang 'o' so nicely above our new couch. Our new house is in need of new art. We have made a promise to ourselves since buying our first home that we would NOT put up art that was on the walls before. Now it is a little more difficult because I am trying to match items and use a cross between vintage and new/modern furniture and art. So far we are succeeding. I do love shopping. I have made new curtains for the kitchen, hemmed curtains for the living room, and even made a cookbook organizer for the kitchen to match the curtains!

Recently, while strolling through Bed Bath & Beyond...I ran across these. Usually, I don't buy too many girly or especially, "As seen on TV," stuff. Not usually my cup of tea, well, since you can just use your average towel to wrap your hair up in-it never really crossed my mind that I needed to have these. At 31 years old the old trusty basic towel has never let me down. Oh but now I am just spoiled. They do work!...Less bulk, less blow-drying, more time to sip coffee, easy to clean and last but not least it is a special little something to add to your day. I now don't use just a plain ol towel, I use a "Twisty Towel."

If you live in North Portland you have seen this cart many a times. Nestled in the parking lot next to videorama. Living around the corner I have noticed this pimped out cart and long lines of people. Before I went there...I thought, "they must have some tasty coffee." Wasn't until friends filled me in. We trekked our 5 minute walk and discovered that waffles folded up like a taco filled with pretty much whatever your heart desires might be the most amazing breakfast idea. ever. Since our first encounter with the "little green" we've been, well, let's say....a lot. Go there because you can eat this.....

I cannot believe how long my hair is. I want it to grow even longer....like 4" longer! Since I was 17 years old I have pretty much had short, short short or semi-short hair. Then I go and surf the web and find that, "yes!" in fact short hair is still awesome and I little bit lot want it. This is for serious. yo. I have again and again been able to get my hair to shoulder length and then get instantly frustrated and CHOP. My hair is an 1 1/2" past my shoulders now and I never wear it down. Oy the dilemmas of life. Help me hairpedia.com

My bus ride this morning involved crazy rage-aholic dude. Big burly guy sitting in the back of the bus decided it was a good idea at 8 in the morning to call someone and proceed to tell them all about his fight with his wife the night before. Not your average story people. It was ridiculous. A lot of cussing and verbal abuse. I have no idea why she kicked him out? People are clueless of their own behavior sometimes. Or are aware and it bugs them so much that they get angry and take it out on others.

Hello 2008:Goodbye 2007

In beginning the New Year let's take a look at the past year. What did I do in 2007? And what can I do in 2008?

---We bought a house.
---We got Blackberries (the phones/not the fruit)...sheesh...who would have thunk it.
---Started seriously exercising...like for real except then I didn't.
---Rode my bike more miles than I ever thought I would.
---Started really mending some relationships.
---Found that Buddhism and its practices are amazing.
---Learned to let things go. mostly.
---Started taking more photos.
---Started Journaling on paper. Which is good for all involved.
---Mellowed out A LOT. While I still feel the urge to always be busy...I can now relax & enjoy it.
---Had a great birthday with my friends. And a terrific massage and manicure at a fancy place.
---Threw SM the best birthday bash ever. I should go into business.
---Got a promotion and some perks with new job here and sort of here.
---Saw some friends who I hadn't seen in years.
---Handed over our old bad ass apartment to a lovely lady.
---WENT TO CHICAGO! and visited old friends. f-u-n!
---Had a "carnival" themed birthday party for BW.
---Picked berries.
---Took a mini vacation to Seaside and loved it WAY more than I thought I would.
---BARNSTOCK
---Went camping at Jones Creek.
---Amanda graduated from her MA program. Go Amanda! And she had a party and it was fun!
---Four Square fun times. Our league was almost formed.
---Went to the beach house in Depoe Bay. Yes!
---Took the train to Fresno and back.
---Went to school for art for a milisecond.
---Got a new camera. Still haven't learned to use it.

p.s. Good thing I took pictures or else I would have been in a position to think of things on my own. :)

When we were in the 'no, we got to visit the fams. It was a super quick visit but we did get some cute photos. Look at these faces....

Tonight I made this incredibly delish cuban-ish dish. It had this tasty cuban sauce with black beans, tofu and green beans. It was delish. Check it!

Oh and a friend of mine recently inherited this lovely space at a community garden. She asked if I wanted in on it and of course I said...yes! We rode our bikes out there yesterday and did some serious weeding. We were able to harvest some tasty tomatoes, pumpkins, lots o herbs, chard, and eggplants. Some tastiness from our garden..

Man, I wish I could make up my mind about blogging. I often think I should just go back to livejournal. I really have nothing to write anymore. I write in my actual journal which is just for moi. Sometimes I do like to share though, so it's nice to keep it open.

We did go here last night. Oh and here. It was LB's birthday. The glow in the dark mini-golf was super. It was no Blackbeards but still fun!! At the other place I played pinball, ms. pac-man, and a lot of driving games. It seems maybe I should stick to those. I tried playing TRON and it was sad. Oh and we strolled around downtown with S and B on our bicicletas and we pretended to be a bike gang. We weren't the tough kind though just the take up the lane kind.

It is so beautiful out right now. It is a little unreal. I need to go out there. A bike ride is in order. A really long one. Me my sunscreen, a packed lunch, a book and a destination.

A whirlwind of a trip happened. We managed to squeeze in visiting family, eating tasty mexican food, seeing lovely faces, rocking out, drinking beers, and there is more...i am sure. Here are some pictures of our little adventure. Most of them were takin' by S. I wasn't in a takin' picture kind of mood. It was hot people. :) I really enjoyed myself. I only wish I had been able to talk with more people. Plenty more trips. I am sure.

I am excited for fall...I really can't wait for scarves, hoodies, and gloves. Now that is not to say that I don't want the summer to stick around. There is nothing like P-town summer weather, although right now that is not happening. It's raining. I was thinking about fall and decided to go for the following:

make a fall scarf from random balls of yarn that I never finished using. so far it has turned out nicely. it's a lovely deep orange and medium pink color. yum.
grow my hair out. i figure it's time for a change and what better time then to try for 'fall hair'. poifect.
start cataloging all of the stew and chili recipes i want to make.

I bought a new bike yesterday! Let me tell you....it is f'n awesome! I can't believe I have spent so long riding that crappy crappy mountain bike. S had been telling me that it would make all the difference if I had a bike that was easier to ride. And yes, I believed him but I really didn't think it would be that MUCH easier. Now when I go up hills, it isn't like I am going to pass out the entire way up. I LOVE IT! here is a little picture....not such a good picture but whatevs....

I am now a true full-time worker. I actually have two jobs that I like. I feel like an adult but not really. I mean at each job I am someone's assistant but I am not working retail and I am not taking classes. It's like I have the adult itch or something. It's about time I guess, since I am 30. 30!

And to top it all off...we will be buying a house. Prolly in 3 to 6 months. Now that I am fully employed we are going to save (fer real) and go for it. I want something like this (i did have a link here but it expired) but here is a picture....

And now, the RR thing is sitting on hold. I am still doing it, so feel free to place an order but I am not investing on advertising or taking any new wholesale orders. I will continue business with the contacts I have made and single orders. Even working full-time, I should be able to pull it off. It'll be nice to have extra money.
